Fantastic customer service, good food and drinks, cool atmosphere. These guys really want you to be happy and we enjoy introducing our out of town guests to this unique place. Lots of menu choices and a good value in a town where restaurants can be a little spendy. Thank you to our blue haired waitress who was patient with us as we translated what she was saying to our German friends.

Well, shucks. Been coming to this joint for years, and always had good food. Tonight my burger was just awful, and when the server took my plate, she didn't ask if everything was okay or why I hadn't eaten it or anything like that. When she brought the check and asked if I needed anything else, I inquired as to whether she had noticed it had not been eaten. With attitude, she said "I just figured you were full or something." Sorry to say me and mine won't be going back again.

We split the sirloin steak with rice and veggies....absolutely delicious. We also got our beers for one cent because of their current special going on. This place can't be beat.

The Last Steep is my go to lunch place in Crested Butte! They have amazing bloody marys, my mouth is watering just writing this. The staff is friendly and the food is fast and tasty. I love the cajun bbq turkey club sandwich! Bacon and bbq sauce, YUM! I also really love the artichoke and cheddar soup in their bread bowls. I used to live close enough to frequent this place. I don't anymore, and my waistline thanks me. But I can't help but making a stop at The Last Steep anytime I'm in CB!

We ordered a few things: the broccoli soup, very good. The artichoke dip, ok, full of sour cream. The veggie burger... STAY AWAY! It's an insult to vegetarians! Basically all the left over rice, beans and sweet potato made into a burger that tastes like nothing! The owner is not dog friendly at all. Most of the places didn't make a big deal about our dog on the patio... Well he did. Go somewhere else!

So I've been here a bunch of times and never been disappointed. Good food , service, a good variety of menu items. It's not a gastropub, but the food is a solid step above pub grub. Also a plus for CB is they seem to be open regularly thru the off/mud season. it's not a big place so if you show up with everyone else in town be prepared to wait.

The one place in crested butte you can go day after day to and try a different menu item and the quality and flavor is top notch. Went here three times over the week I was here. Food and staff are the best in the Butte. Very quick and helpful staff great place for kids as well. The deck in the summer is real nice to.

Everything in this town closes at 9, but this place is open until 11, and the menu is full of green and healthy options. So if you're a visiting Californian like me, this place could possibly make your night like it made mine. I had some really good chili and a lovely coconut curry shrimp salad. At 10 pm. Special shout-out to Katie, our waitress, who took care of us especially well.

Great food, excellent service and ice cold beer! What more can a customer ask for? The owners Sean and Kevin are always welcoming and very friendly. Really make you feel at home. I have had the burgers which are very tasty, and the veggie wrap with chicken which was outstanding. All of the veggies extremely fresh and crunchy and the homemade guacamole was even good! Anytime I'm in Crested Butte I'll always stop in for a drink or some fresh onion rings. Love this place! Go Chiefs!

Awesome place. Out of four dinners we were 4 happy eaters. Spinach Salad, teriyaki chicken, Mahi salad and last steak were all excellent. The happy hour was great and dinner was really good too. Good value and good food!

Loved this lunch. Had the artichoke cheese soup that was heavenly. Then the blackened fish sandwich. The fish was seared perfectly and I did skip the hoagie roll on the second half it was only to have enough room to finish the fish and the soup. Excellent attentive service and I hear the Bloody Mary bar in the weekend is not to be missed

Good food when you need something late. The menu is limited, but the food is decent. I had a BBQ pork sandwich. The pork was not dry and the BBQ sauce was tasty. Like all good pulled pork sandwiches, it came with cole slaw and pickles. Not exactly what I remembered KC sauce to taste like, but good nonetheless. The menu had a lot of spicy sounding options. The desserts make everything worth it. The grasshopper pie is amazing and big enough for two if you are willing to share!!! The wait staff is very courteous and they refilled drinks very regularly. I would go here again if I find myself in Crested Butte again.

Stopped in because it was late and this was one of the only places open that wasn't purely bar food. It was decent. Nothing amazing, but my food was good and so was the service. They didn't have any problems adjusting my meal to how I wanted it prepared (remove this, add that, etc.). Good selection of beers on tap. If there are other options available, this might not be my first choice, but it's good for later when most things have closed up.

We had happy hour margaritas, burgers, and fish tacos on the patio!! This place is great and so was the service. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We've been to The Last Steep on our last 2 visits to Crested Butte. Good food, nice menu selections, reasonable prices and friendly staff. The place is unassuming yet warm and inviting for visitors and locals alike. Small bar area but they have everything that you may want. Great salads, the chicken wings were excellent (try the house sauce), daily soup selections always interesting. Located in the heart of Elk Avenue, this is a MUST dine location for us when we come back to CB!!

I have to admit I had low expectations, but everything my family had was great. I had the crawfish po boy...5 stars! cozy little joint.

I was not really impressed with the fish tacos, they were pretty dry (even though they were fried) and lacking in flavor. I ordered it with a side of black beans and rice and the beans had absolutely no flavor at all. I had to add salt to them to even eat them. The Blood Mary's were good but a little too spicy for me, if a bloody mary is to spicy for me it is really hard to enjoy it - just my opinion. I thought it was pricey for what we got one bloody mary each (2), and ice water all around and our two kids shared one order and it was $55.00 for lunch. Do not go in the the summer unless you want to sweat your rear off, or wait and go for dinner and not lunch. We were in a small room and it was so hot I almost could not stand it. The only thing I really liked about this place is that the staff was very friendly and attentive. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing or something went wrong, there are a lot of good reviews so I dont know if I just went when they were having a bad day but I doubt we will return when we visit the area again. :-/

I thought they had good food. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was really good. it had was called the "Kansas City Chief" which was a little confusing because I don't usually associated pulled pork and KC bbq but the waitress said the owners are from Kansas City which helped it make more sense. I thought the service was good, the food was good, and the prices were good. I would definitely go back. Not fancy, more of a comfortable local place but right on the main street.

We stopped in for a late lunch after a long Jeep outing. I had a burger and my wife had a wrap. We thought both of them were very good. The service was fast and friendly. The food was hot and tasty. There seems to be no shortage of great places to dine in Crested Butte and we want to try many of them but would gladly come back here.

Went here twice had some nice meals. A salad, and the artichoke dip, then the Happy Hour sliders which are fantastic. The Jamacian Jerk wings tasted seriously like they were marinaded in wet Alpo. I make some great ones, and cook the hell out of them and they are crunchy, magical, and happiness producing. These made me sad. Their bloody mary's are incredible. Good place. Spacey servers, but I will go there again.

On a bike ride and cycling though Crested Butte, Last Steep was highly recommended by a local. He pointed us this direction and said the burgers were amazing and of course I asked, "But do they have anything to vegetarian?" And he said his wife loved the veggie burgers. So here we are.... The friendly hostess seated us immediately at a nice table on the patio, perfect for today's weather because the umbrella covered half of our table. The temperature was a little cool but the sun was warm so when the clouds cleared we just slid under the umbrella. And during a brief shower we were able to continue our meal while staying dry. House salad was fresh and good, and the dressings are housemade, also sold by the 12 oz jar. I enjoyed the cilantro ranch so much that I would have bought a jar to take home had we not been on bicycles. My veggie burger was unique, with chunks of sweet potato and actually more of a sloppy joe texture than actual veggie burger patty. The lettuce, tomato and onion served on the side were crispy and fresh. I also ordered sautéed mushrooms and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The fries were really tasty too, and a nice variety of other sides were available as well. Tofu options and entrees were on the menu, black bean & sweet potato burritos as well as portobello so not a bad find for vegetarians. I would make a special trip to return.

Stopped in over Labor Day weekend for a late lunch. Pretty small place but with a nice deck if weather permits. They were slammed with customers, but the staff did a good job keeping up. I had the artichoke and cheddar soup in the bread bowl, which was excellent. Friendly service and tons of local flavor.

Excellent food, excellent service. The Jerk Chicken sandwich, homemade veggie burger and fish tacos are outstanding.

Good Bloody Mary. Good burger and nice service. Fun place with good beer. Salad was also tasty. Fries not so much.

Tiny restaurant, excellent chicken and pesto sandwich. The fries tasted a little freezer burnt. Otherwise an excellent dining experience.

I had the most perfectly prepared, cooked, presented burger at medium rare I've ever had! Compliment that with my server and the owner's charm. Bang! Great dining experience all around.

We had a recommendation from a local and so glad we went here. What a great find! The atmosphere was cosy, friendly staff and GREAT food! Everything we ordered was good, from the Cajun Chicken pasta, Chicken Pesto Sandwich and the kids burger. everyone enjoyed the food.

One of the latest places open at night in the Butte. It is pure American/bar food. You can't go wrong with the artichoke dip. Gets packed pretty quickly - steep stairs going into the establishment.

Two stars is a gift. They serve cocktails in water goblets. They don't have the Chardonnay that they offer by the glass/bottle. They do have another (Woodbridge) Char, but it only comes in gigantic bottles, so you need to order a glass. My crab cakes were vile. Blackened on the outside, doughy mush on the inside. My Caesar salad was two notches below Denny's. The menu suggested that there might be an egg in the dressing, but it was thin and insipid. The croutons were a supermarket joke. I ordered some "shoestring" fries to get something in my stomach. They were not shoestrings; they were Sysco thin-cut. There's a difference. Mi esposa said that the mahi-mahi tacos were good, but I saw that look on her face and I noticed that she picked at the fish without eating anything else. They were not good. Upside: reasonable prices for mediocre food. A bright spot: the servers were energetic and friendly, and they did their best. This seems typical of Crested Butte. Servers hustle. I tipped heavy and let the waitress know that the food was awful (not her fault). Good Lord, people, raise your standards. Those of you who give the Last Steep five stars must eat Cheez Whiz out of a jar. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Great drink and app specials. $3 tacos until 6pm. $1.5 PBRs. Staff is young, fun, and accommodating. They work as as a team and multiple people checked on us during a meal. Best Bloody Mary in town. Kid friendly.

Super-slow service. NOT dog friendly as advertised. Generally, poor and slow service in Crested Butte. It shouldn't deter you from visiting but it's not my first pick.

We stopped by when we arrived in Crested Butte after a long drive from Denver. We grabbed a table to meet some family for football Sunday. Being a chiefs fan in CO, I HAD to check this place out! Televisions are scarce but I didn't expect too much being a local CB restaurant. Food was excellent, beer menu was diverse and our server was friendly and accommodating. Definitely a go-to spot.

Awesome place to watch a football game! Great staff, and the soup of the day (habanero chili corn chowder) was awesome.

First time visiting CB and we had a great time here after a long day of skiing. Good draft selections. Reasonable prices. And we loved our bartenders Jess and Jen! Will definitely be visiting again.

This place has AMAZING food, but if it's busy, you're going to wait a long time for your food. Our server was really funny and thoughtful, so I can't give her too much fuss. I love their burgers. If you're in CB, and it's not during the busy summer or winter months, this place would be absolutely perfect.

The Last Steep is one of my favorite places to eat in the Butte. This place is nothing fancy. It's just tasty food and stiff cocktails. I come here pretty much every time I'm in town. I would highly recommend San Diego style fish tacos and crab cakes. There are many excellent healthy veg options and filling burgers and pasta choices for needed energy replacement after the mountain. Always happy with the Steep :)

We hit this place on Sunday for lunch with high hopes.. However, they were quickly erased with the appetizer of mushy artichoke dip and horrible food. Shrimp sandwich was processed pressed shrimp frozen and fried to death. My burger was a precooked prefabbed well done charred piece of crud. It was the single worst burger in the history of ever. Everything else looked the same at the table.. Preprocessed crap. Only reason i gave it one star was the service was very friendly and helpful. Steer clear of the last steep....

The best Burger I ever had. Fresh meat on a nice fresh bun. Awsome. The Waiter was very friendly but a little incapable. That's why I only gave 4 Stars.

After a long day of traveling we went here for dinner... We had looked at the menu beforehand and I was planning on having the tacos, but once we were there and heard the specials - I quickly changed my mind. I had the 'space' salmon it had some sort of teriyaki glaze and was served with veggies and rice. It was delicious! So was the soup of the day, sweet potato bisque. Hubs had an amazing looking (and said equally great tasting) chicken sandwich with cheese and jalapeños and BBQ sauce, his beef chili was yummy too. Our bill was only around $30.00, we both had waters, and we thought the price was very reasonable. Our water was friendly and the owner (manager?) checked on us briefly too. We would definitely go back, there are other menu items we would like to try.

This was the first place we ate in Crested Butte. After a full day of travel the six of us were starving. Matt was super friendly and had great recommendations. Two of us had the burgers - hand formed and tasty. A little on the well done on the outside, but still juicy and tasty inside. I had the veggie burger - and you could tell it was homemade, chock full of black beans and great spices. And very filling - unlike a lot of frozen/preformed veggie patties. Another one of our friends had the pesto chicken sandwich and refused to share it with any of us because it was so delish. One friend had the Kansas City Pulled Pork sandwich and said it was yummy. Really great bar and food, friendly service with a local feel. Wiring this review makes me want to have their veggie burger right now!!

  • Jamie W.

Having eating here dozens of times, it's always a solid place to go for lunch or dinner. The service is always consistent, but a tad slow. The menu and food quality are always average, except for the fish items which I do not recommend. This is a burger joint, so I definitely recommend the burgers which are slightly above average.

ate on friday night with 3 friends and we all had the special (ribeye). very crowded and a little chaotic, but the food and atmosphere were great. We were drinking and having a good time so the buried staff and chaos did not kill our apre-ski buzz. Cute gals for staff and patrons. Actually went back sat. night for drinks after a weak mexican meal down the street. Check it out.

We ate here for lunch and for once I was glad I didn't take Y elp reviews to heart. Food was great, hubby had an awesome burger and I had pulled pork sandwich. Onion rings are awesome and although it was busy, service was quick and attentive. I would definitely return. Whatever changed since the last reviews was for the better.

Awesome spot to have some drinks and food (fish tacos) ... loved the patio, GREAT bloody mary bar!

Great service overall! We ordered take out. The girl who answered was very polite and very competent. Only 15 minutes to pick up food. When we got home we were a little sad to not find our soup. A quick call back to the place and they were more then willing to do whatever it took to make it right. Our food was delicious and we will definitely go back to try again!

Perfect spot for a casual meal post skiing. I enjoyed my salad and my husband loved his BBQ sandwich. Definitely try the coconut shrimp. Good beer selection and a fun crowd. The staff are attentive and friendly. Also a good place to bring kids.

Every now and then I either forget to check or ignore yelp reviews when entering a restaurant. Every time I do I'm reminded why yelp is such a great tool. So you've driven/flown/walked/hiked/bussed yourself to Crested Butte, one of the most scenic and enjoyable places in the 48s snow or green. You find yourself outside of Last Steep and think why not? I'll tell you, there are AT LEAST 5 restaurants within a block that will beat this place in food, service, and price. I got the jerk chicken sandwich, which was a frozen costco chicken breast and some off the shelf seasonings. God why did we go in? That's all I got.

Awesome Bloody Mary! Service is slow.

Great place, but you have to keep in mind that it's mostly a locals place, not a tourist place. The beer is cold and the food is usually really good. You can't go wrong with their daily specials and, if you get a sandwich, be sure to ask for a side of the "secret special steak sauce"! Inside is really small, but it makes it extremely easy to meet the locals. The patio is roomy enough for the kids to run around and not bother the other patrons which is a bonus! We were there just as the mountain bike festival was starting and we had zero issues with food or service. We ended up going back 4 or 5 times during the week to have some brews and hang out with the locals. We will definitely be making this a routine stop the next time we go back to CB!

i was hoodwinked. i was swindled. i was a fool. i mistook the menu for eclectic, rather than confused. had i done my research i could have had a delicious feast of pan fried chicken with all the fixins just up the street. but i didn't and instead i wound up here with a less than mediocre salad. it's as if ice berg is the only lettuce that exists in middle america. there are some places where you should just order the steak. where the steaks are good, the salads usually are not. in this case you are better off with neither. i had the cilantro ranch chicken salad with a hearty recommendation from our server. ice berg lettuce, canned corn, tomatoes and a chicken breast served with a side of hidden valley. zzzzzz. my mans ordered the steak but wasn't given a choice regarding his preferred doneness. this is never a good sign. the staff seemed friendly and the outdoor seating was a nice touch but i could just kick myself for missing out on the fried chicken. maybe someday i'll be back to crested butte and do some justice to my taste buds.

Cool little hippie place. Very laid back, which means the service may be a bit slow. But relax, have a beer - they have a decent selection, and you're food will arrive nicely. However, the food is gets 2.5 to 3 stars - the prices are commiserate to food quality though. It is a step up from bar food, and the atmosphere is nice as are the wait staff.

Best grilled checken pesto sandwich ever, and you gotta have the raspberry stoli mimosa was a great pairing. This was our favorite lunch plane in CB.
